CWO Holy Rosary Parish, Wuse, Abuja, Celebrates the 2024 Mothers’ Day on The 3rd Sunday after Easter in grandeur
The 2024 edition of the Mothers’ Day Celebrations, otherwise known as Mothering Sunday, was celebrated in pomp, grandeur and in solemnity by the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of the Holy Rosary Parish, Wuse, Abuja, on the 3rd Sunday of Easter, April 14, 2024, at the Church premises.
The event kicked off the previous day, Saturday, April 13, 2024, with a Rosary procession, during which the CWO members handed over the wellbeing of Parishioners and the success of the celebration to the intercession of the Mother of families, the Blessed Virgin Mary, by holding a street wide Rosary procession beginning from the Parish premises.
This was followed on Sunday by Mass officiated by the Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Akpan. In his homily entitled: “Bearing Effective Witness to the Gospel”, the Priest advises us to be true witnesses to the gospel through our words and our actions. He further admonished that when in a state of confusion, we should go back to Jesus and ask Him to appear to us so that we can learn and overcome our challenges just as during Jesus’s appearance to His Apostles, where they had hidden themselves shortly after His resurrection from death on Easter, to prove that Christ will readily appear to us when we are in trouble or confused.
Before end of the mass, members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) staged a short song/drama on the pains of motherhood and the joy that follows at the birth of a child, asking the Parishioners to tap on the annointing for their children, relations and loved ones.
The newly sworn-in Parish CWO President, Mrs. Chinyere Ukaoha, presented the address of the Archdiocesan President and her’s to the congregation.
