Holy Thursday: Fr. Yahaya Calls for Servant Leadership and Faithfulness

The Assistant Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wuse, Abuja, Rev. Fr. Paschal Yahaya, has called on Christians, especially those in positions of authority, to embrace servant leadership and remain faithful in their responsibilities.
Delivering his homily during the Holy Thursday Mass, Fr. Yahaya drew inspiration from the Gospel of St. John (13:1–15), where Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. He emphasized that this act of humility by Christ remains a timeless example for all leaders.
According to him, leadership is not about power or status, but about service, humility, and genuine care for others. He urged leaders at all levels – within families, communities, and the nation – to be attentive to the needs of those entrusted to them, especially in times of pressure and difficulty.

Fr. Yahaya further encouraged the faithful to emulate Christ’s humility by treating others with dignity and compassion, regardless of circumstances.
A significant moment during the Mass was the Prayer of the Faithful, where intentions were offered for the Church and her leaders, including the Pope, Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, and all the faithful, asking God to strengthen them in their mission.
The liturgy concluded with a solemn withdrawal, symbolizing Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, as He prayed for strength to fulfill His mission of redemption.
