Holy Rosary Parish, Wuse, Abuja was aglow with joy, music, and deep spiritual reflection as it hosted her 2025 Christmas Carols of Nine Lessons on Sunday, 7 December 2025. Themed “Rejoice, It’s Christmas O’Clock,” the event beautifully ushered parishioners and guests alike into the spirit of the Christmas season.
The solemn, yet joyful celebration brought together the combined parish choirs, made up of the 6:00am, 8:00am, and 10:00am Mass choirs, alongside the ever-joyful Parish Children’s Choir. Their harmonious blend was further enriched by invited choirs from other churches, adding variety and depth to an already rich musical offering.
The traditional Nine Lessons, carefully selected to recount God’s redemptive plan from prophecy to fulfillment in the birth of Christ, were eloquently proclaimed by members of the Parish Board of Lectors. Each reading was followed by fitting carols and songs, seamlessly weaving Scripture and music into a powerful narrative of hope, joy, and salvation.
The Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Kale Francis, together with his Associate Priests and other invited priets, graced the occasion with their presence, lending pastoral support and spiritual leadership to the event. The church was filled to capacity, including the gallery, as parishioners and invited guests gathered in large numbers, a testament to the significance of the celebration.
From ancient, time-honoured Christmas carols to modern hymns rendered with excellence and devotion, the music captivated the congregation and gently drew hearts into the mystery and joy of Christ’s coming. The atmosphere was one of reverence, celebration, and shared faith, leaving many visibly moved and uplifted.
Indeed, the 2025 Christmas Carols of Nine Lessons will remain etched in the hearts of parishioners and guests for a long time to come, standing as a beautiful reminder that Christmas is not just a season, but a moment of grace to rejoice, reflect, and renew our hope in Christ.
